A Conservative Christian Case for Civil Same-Sex Marriage

I found an incredible article while looking around on the Drum Corps International forums. Although it is quite lengthy, I would encourage anyone to read it thoroughly. The title is A Conservative Christian Case for Civil Same-Sex Marriage. I was amazed at the depth into which this person delved into the issue of Gay Rights amidst their Conservative Christian values. It was truly touching and enlightening, even to someone who already supports Gay Rights.

Yeah, probably, but at least read the article. It really is worth it, and the writer, like I said, is a conservative christian.

Any political arguements stated by me are bound to make things messier.

P.S. The entire point of that article was to show that it doesn't matter what your religeous point of view is on the matter of gay marriage, this country was founded on the freedom to believe and worship as you please, or not if that is your preference. We cannot based a legal situation such as gay marriage on religeous views because it completely undermines seperation of church and state. Even if the majority of the population is against it, we cannot allow something that is unconstitutional. After all, when the Cival Rights Movement was going on, the majority was not for giving African Americans the right to vote and abolishing segregation.

I can do that, Tali. I simply believe that it is not a choice whether you are homosexual or heterosexual and when people's rights are infringed upon based on something they cannot control, I have a problem.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to respectively disagree with this article. God said made WOMAN for man for the two of THEM to become "one flesh". He never said that man and man were to become "one flesh". I don't want to offend anyone, but I just do not feel that it is right to be gay. I am not saying that people who are gay and lesbian aren't nice people or even good people; just that I don't agree that their sexual preference is something that should be legally looked upon as a true "marriagable union".
Hope I haven't offended ya, Lauren, but there it is. I'm as stubborn as anything, so I respectively agree to disagree with your views on this matter. ;)
